Tam vong poles, also known as “solid bamboo poles” are native to Indochina. These poles are versatile because they do not tend to split. They are stronger than normal hollow Chinese-type bamboo poles.
Tam vong poles can take a nail or screw like wood, yet they have an incredibly high tensile strength that far exceeds wood. This material is a suitable replacement for nearly any product that uses similar diameter wood.
Tam Vong is available in diameters ranging from 0.5” to 2.2” and lengths of up to 12’ (longer sizes are available). The poles taper from bottom to top. For example – a 2” pole will taper to about 1.5” at 12 feet long.

Our poles are offered milled or unmilled. Options include: sanding and finishing as well as squared edges, calibration, half rounds, quarter rounds, flat strips and much more.

Tam vong is farm grown and owned by private farmers. Responsible cutting requires waiting three years for the bamboo to mature. Younger bamboo tends to be softer and less reliable for use in construction. Beware of young tam vong poles, as they are not suitable for most applications. These days, many suppliers are shipping young poles to unsuspecting customers (regardless of what they promise!). The Bamboo Team has a strict policy of only selling mature poles as our business depends on customer satisfaction and building a strong following.
The Bamboo Team uses a time-tested and 100% effective pressure treatment system to eradicate all insects. The treatment uses a non-toxic boron solution that completely penetrates all parts of the bamboo to permanently remove the risk of powder post beetle, termites and other pests.
